About me
Hi! I’m Evan, a private chef (based out of Philadelphia) passionate about creating vibrant, fusion-focused dishes inspired by my Chinese and Vietnamese heritage. Growing up in my family’s restaurant, I developed a love for food and flavors from a young age. By age nine, I was already in the kitchen, learning to make fried rice and eggs with my grandma.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of training with incredible chefs, including James Beard Award winner Cristina Martinez of South Philly Barbacoa and renowned chef Peter Serpico. I served as a chef at Double Knot under Michael Schulson and spent countless hours honing my skills at my family’s restaurant, Hibachi. I've had the opportunity to cook for everyone from family and friends to the Kardashians, the women’s Olympic soccer team, and all the major Philly sports teams.
Before the pandemic, I was on the brink of moving to Tokyo to deepen my culinary skills, but the world had other plans. After facing health challenges due to an autoimmune condition, I had to leave the demanding restaurant life. Thankfully, private cheffing has been a meaningful way for me to keep my passion alive and express myself through food.
While I specialize in Asian cuisine, I love exploring Latin and Italian flavors, pushing the boundaries of traditional tastes while maintaining harmony in each dish. With a background in bodybuilding, I bring a strong understanding of healthy macros to my meal prep, blending flavor with nutrition.
Some of my favorite foods to work with are soups, noodles, rice, seafood, and braised meats. I have a deep love for fermented ingredients, as they allow for creativity and depth in flavor.
To everyone who’s supported me, from ordering my food to connecting on social media—thank you. Your support means the world, and I look forward to sharing more delicious experiences with you!
